PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miz Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mads Batra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Go Hard. The crowd seem to be enjoying Batra's choice of entrance music: Slagsmålsklubben - Sponsored by destiny. Mads Batra told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Miz Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mads Batra!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batra scores with a kick to the midsection.
Jackson tries to clinch there but Batra circles away.
A jab-cross combination lands for Batra and sends Jackson crashing to the mat! Batra follows him down to the mat - Jackson regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


It looks like Miz Jackson has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jackson is staying active underneath Batra, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jackson misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Batra is trying to control the action in half guard but Jackson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Batra is trying to work for a kimura but Jackson is defending well.

Batra is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Batra is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Jackson has managed to free his arm - good work.

Batra wants to take a breather but Jackson is having none of it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jackson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Batra is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Batra is looking for a triangle but Jackson pushes his legs off easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Batra had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jackson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Batra Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jackson's back instead.

I really don't envy Jackson right now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Batra is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Jackson. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Batra has the hooks in. Jackson is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Jackson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Batra prevents it.
Jackson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Batra is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Jackson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Batra pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miz Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jackson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Batra fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Batra is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jackson knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jackson for a finish.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Jackson has hold of one of Batra's legs. Batra is fighting the takedown attempt but Jackson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Batra lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jackson!

Batra is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jackson is surviving well by controlling Batra's body position as best he can.
Jackson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

I really don't envy Jackson right now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Batra counters with a nice kick to the body.
Miz Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Batra feints and as Jackson raises his hands in defense, Batra changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mads Batra comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Batra has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
