Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Homes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Avon Barksdale!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Homes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Homes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Homes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Homes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Homes won't allow Barksdale to get back to his feet.
Barksdale really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Homes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Homes wants to pass the guard but Barksdale is keeping the position.
Barksdale wants to stand but Homes is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barksdale wants to get back to his feet but Homes passes into half guard.
Barksdale tries to kick Homes off but Homes keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Homes shoots in looking for a takedown. Barksdale tries to sprawl out of it but Homes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barksdale manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Barksdale moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Barksdale will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Barksdale stuffs the takedown attempt from Homes. Homes gets slowly back to his feet.
Barksdale stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Henry Homes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Homes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Barksdale is trying to stand back up but Homes is controlling him
Homes is breathing heavily.
Homes is trying to work for a kimura but Barksdale is defending well.
Barksdale pushes Homes off looking to stand but Homes dives back in and keeps control.
Barksdale scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Homes manages to mount him!

Barksdale wants to try and get back to his feet.
Homes forces the positional change into back control.
Homes is cranking Barksdale's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Barksdale! He's tightened the choke and Barksdale is tapping out!
