Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mario Robertson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rey Owens!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson shoots in looking for a takedown. Owens tries to sprawl out of it but Robertson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Owens manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mario Robertson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Robertson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Owens defends well and Robertson ends up having to push Owens into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Owens closes the distance and pushes Robertson back into the cage.
Owens has had enough of the clinch but Robertson keeps him there for the moment.

Owens has Robertson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Owens pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Robertson tumbling to the mat - Owens dives into Robertson's guard.

Robertson manages to escape and get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Owens dives in and grabs Robertson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Robertson pushes down on Owens's head and hops out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Robertson fails in his attempt to clinch.
A punch combination from Robertson misses.
Robertson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Owens as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mario Robertson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Robertson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Owens but Owens pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Robertson connects with a body shot.

Robertson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Owens striking from the bottom but nothing landed.

Owens throws Robertson to one side and escapes!

Robertson moves into range and clinches up with Owens.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Owens is looking to take this one to the mat.
Robertson wants a takedown but no success here.

Robertson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Owens gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Robertson to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Owens has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Robertson is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Owens is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Robertson to keep the fight standing.
Owens wants to break free but Robertson has control.
Owens has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Robertson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Robertson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Robertson manages to end up in side control.
Owens is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Robertson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Robertson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Owens has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Owens misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Owens manages to escape and get back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rey Owens will probably get the nod.

Robertson darts in and clinches Owens up against the cage.
Owens jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Robertson walks away with a smile on his face. Owens gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Robertson misses with a series of wild punches.
Robertson looks for a takedown but Owens sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Robertson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Owens counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Owens circles away from the clinch attempt.
Owens shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Robertson counters with a left to the body.

Owens shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Robertson is trying to get back to full guard.
Owens working the head and body with strikes.
Owens with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Owens connects with a nice short shot to Robertson's temple.

Robertson is rocked!
Owens lands a big elbow - Robertson is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Owens!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rey Owens!
