Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kenneth Townsend (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Dunham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Townsend comes to the cage accompanied by Walk by Pantera. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kenneth Townsend! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rick Dunham! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Townsend avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Dunham closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dunham lands in his opponent's guard. Townsend has his foot on Dunham's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dunham works his way back into a safe position though. Townsend had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Dunham is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Townsend Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Dunham's back instead. Townsend is looking for the choke from the back position but Dunham is controlling his hands well. Dunham is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dunham is trying to get back to his feet but Townsend has full control of the position and if anything, Dunham has just worked his way into a worse spot. I really don't envy Dunham right now.
Dunham defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Townsend's arms. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dunham is really stuck here.
Dunham manages to reverse the position and now he's in Townsend's guard. Nice work there by Dunham.

That's one minute gone in the round. Dunham with a nice head shot there. Dunham wants to control from the top but Townsend keeps moving. Dunham might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Townsend kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Townsend is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Dunham slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Dunham looking to pass the guard. Dunham must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Townsend has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dunham can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Dunham wants to control from the top but Townsend keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dunham controlling from the top position. Townsend looking for a sweep. Not yet Townsend, not yet. Dunham slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Dunham postures up and lands a big shot to Townsend's brow. Townsend keeping moving, preventing Dunham from controlling successfully. Townsend has a closed guard, preventing Dunham from standing up. Dunham tries to free his leg and advance position but Townsend is retaining full guard. Dunham slips nicely into half guard. Dunham working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Townsend moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dunham with a nice head shot there. Dunham wants to pass the guard but Townsend is keeping the position. Townsend is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dunham postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Townsend working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dunham doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dunham manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Dunham distracts Townsend with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Dunham cracks Townsend with a solid left hand. Dunham wants to control from the top but Townsend keeps moving. Dunham lands a couple of digs. Dunham is looking to stand up but Townsend won't let him. Townsend keeping moving, preventing Dunham from controlling successfully. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dunham landing with the ground and pound. Dunham stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Townsend swivels though and keeps the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Townsend fails with the takedown and Dunham decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Townsend's guard. Townsend throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Townsend has momentary wrist control but Dunham slips an elbow through the middle. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dunham won't allow Townsend to sweep him here. Dunham postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Dunham keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Townsend's head.
It looks like Kenneth Townsend has been cut. Dunham is working Townsend over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Townsend looking for a sweep. Not yet Townsend, not yet. Townsend is looking for a triangle here but Dunham uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Townsend on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Dunham really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Townsend. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Dunham is chipping away with strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Dunham decides to take the fight back to the feet. Dunham fails in his attempt to clinch. Townsend keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Townsend stuffs the takedown attempt from Dunham. Dunham gets slowly back to his feet. This has been an exciting period of action! Townsend with a poor takedown and Dunham counters with a takedown into side control. Dunham in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Townsend on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Dunham is looking to take a break and control but Townsend is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Townsend is looking to regain half guard here but Dunham keeps moving and retains side control. Dunham lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Townsend down.
Townsend is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Townsend is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Townsend is not content to let Dunham control the position. Townsend is looking for a sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Dunham moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Dunham creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Townsend stops Dunham from passing to mount. Dunham in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Jeez, Kenneth Townsend's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
