The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barat tries to clinch but Burton is having none of it.
Barat connects with a jab.

It looks like Chris Burton has been cut.
Burton shoots in and drives through. Barat sprawls well.
Carl Barat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barat fails with an attempt to clinch.
Burton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Burton misses with a few strikes there.
Barat stuffs the takedown.
Burton tries to clinch up but Barat circles away and keeps his distance.
Burton shoots in but no luck this time.
Carl Barat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Burton.

Burton shoots in but no luck this time.

Burton shoots in for a double leg but Barat sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A jab-cross combination lands for Barat and sends Burton crashing to the mat! Barat follows him down to the mat - Burton regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Burton is rocked!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barat seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Burton throws a strike from the bottom but Barat passes into side control!

Barat decides to stand up, so the ref orders Burton to his feet.
Barat smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Burton shoots in looking for a takedown. Barat tries to sprawl out of it but Burton keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barat manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Barat gets a clinch.

Burton wants to get back to striking at distance but Barat won't allow it.
Burton is trying desperately to land a takedown but Barat is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Burton.

Barat pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Barat misses with a wild combination.
Barat throws a leg kick but Burton checks it.
Burton walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

That has opened up Chris Burton's cut even more.
Burton takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

The cut above Chris Burton's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Barat throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Burton tumbling to the canvas!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Barat is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Barat stands up from Burton's guard - Barat perhaps looking for a knockout.
Carl Barat is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Barat ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Barat works over Burton's head and body with a nice combination.

Chris Burton's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Chris Burton's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
