Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Overeem drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Scott wants to sweep but no luck.

Overeem throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Scott works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Scott looking for a guillotine here but Overeem defends easily.
Overeem is standing up over Scott. Scott looks to escape but Overeem dives into side control.

Scott wants to get up but he can't break Overeem's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Overeem throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Scott gets to his feet - Overeem follows without any prompting.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Scott drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Scott wants to take the fight to the mat but Overeem manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Overeem shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Overeem was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Overeem. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Alistair Overeem has got the better of the ground game so far.

Overeem has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Scott has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Overeem is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Scott has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

You can see the frustration on Scott's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Overeem swats away the attempt to clinch by Scott.

Overeem feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Scott jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Overeem walks away with a smile on his face. Scott gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Overeem shoots in and bounces Scott off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Scott manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Overeem has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Scott uses from the top position.

Scott sneaks out the side door and pushes Overeem away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Samuel Scott.
Well Overeem has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
