PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ruscle Muscle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Muscle comes into the arena with DMX's- Where My Dogs At blaring out of the sound system. Lyoto Machida will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ruscle Muscle!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lyoto Machida!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida throws a hook but Muscle blocks it.
Machida fails to land with a series of punches.
Machida throws a jab but it's blocked by Muscle.
Muscle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Machida moves away.
Machida stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

It looks like Ruscle Muscle has been cut.
Machida throws the left hand but Muscle avoids the punch easily.
Machida throws a right and a left that both miss.

Muscle shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Muscle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Machida swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Muscle is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Machida wants to stand but Muscle is controlling the position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Machida holds on and takes a little breather.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Muscle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Machida gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Muscle is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Muscle is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Muscle lands a two punch combo.

Muscle drives through and clinches with Machida against the cage.
Machida is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Machida has had enough of the clinch but Muscle keeps him there for the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Muscle is stalling here.

Machida escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Machida jabbing away but nothing is landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Machida is looking to land body kicks.
Muscle shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Machida as he avoids it easily.
Muscle tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Machida paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Muscle takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Machida, as that shot connected.
Machida scores with a nice strike.
Machida thows a body shot but no joy.
Muscle looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Machida is fending him off so far but Muscle persists. Nope, Machida circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ruscle Muscle. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Machida misses with a low kick as Muscle jumps back.
Muscle takes one to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Muscle lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Machida backs up against the cage.
Muscle uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Machida.

Machida throws a hook but Muscle blocks it.

Muscle moves into range and connects with a jab.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Muscle darts in and clinches Machida up against the cage.
Machida wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

letting Machida counter with a right hand.

Ruscle Muscle's cut is getting worse.
Muscle tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ruscle Muscle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Muscle turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Muscle lands a jab.
Muscle throws a front kick aimed at Machida's knee but Machida avoids it well.
Machida misses with a kick to the body.
Muscle misses with a wild combination.
Lyoto Machida seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Muscle uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Machida has time to react.
Muscle fails to land with a series of punches.
A jab from Muscle does it's job there.

Muscle closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Machida takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
