Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
59 - 32 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Kovalenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
29 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dre Parker! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kovalenko fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kovalenko looks to score with a jab to the body but Parker is just out of range. Kovalenko looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Kovalenko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Parker avoids the head kick by Kovalenko.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Parker moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
It looks like Dre Parker has been cut. Kovalenko displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Parker throws out the jab. Kovalenko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Parker drops Kovalenko with a nice combination! Parker dives into Kovalenko's guard, looking to finish!
That's one minute gone in the round. Kovalenko has a closed guard, preventing Parker from standing up. Parker decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kovalenko, up you get! Kovalenko lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Kovalenko misses with a double jab
and Parker counters with a straight right hand. Parker throws a jab when Kovalenko was well out of range. Kovalenko throws a nice looking combination but Parker bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. A little jabbing left from Parker on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Nikolai Kovalenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kovalenko throws a sloppy head kick and Parker moves out of range easily. Parker looks like he wants to counter punch here. Kovalenko misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Parker! But no joy. Kovalenko misses with a two punch combination.
Parker unleashes a big counter combination but Kovalenko bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kovalenko tries to bum rush Parker with a series of wild strikes but Parker uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Some wild striking there from Kovalenko.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kovalenko rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Parker moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Kovalenko fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Parker counters with a flying knee that drops Kovalenko! Parker dives in and finishes the fight with a flurry of strikes from the mount!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dre Parker! A relieved looking Dre Parker thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
