Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Allan Matthews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Allan Matthews! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tyler Jackson! The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Steve Erwin and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matthews slaps away a takedown attempt from Jackson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Jackson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Matthews on his heels. He'll look to pass Matthews's guard now, I'm sure. Jackson throwing strikes from guard but Matthews blocks nicely. Jackson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Matthews lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Jackson wants to sweep here but Matthews controlling him for the moment. Matthews is in close to Jackson's body, working some short punches and elbows.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jackson keeps trying to improve his position. Jackson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Matthews drops back looking for a leg! Jackson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jackson manages to kick Matthews off! Matthews jumps back into Jackson's guard. Matthews postures up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Jackson clinches up with Matthews and pushes him back against the cage. Jackson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Matthews just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A head punch blocked on the inside by Jackson. Jackson jumps into guard, dragging Matthews to the mat.
Jackson wants to control the position but Matthews says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Matthews lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Jackson wants to get back to full guard. Matthews thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jackson's head. Jackson wants to control but Matthews is keeping busy and won't allow it. Matthews is working for a kimura but Jackson is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Matthews seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Matthews lands a nice short elbow. Jackson actively working from the bottom here. Matthews prevents Jackson from standing back up.
Jackson is refusing to be controlled, as Matthews sits in half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jackson wants to improve his position but Matthews is controlling well.

Allan Matthews dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Matthews darts in and clinches Jackson up against the cage. Jackson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Matthews looking to score a takedown here. Jackson is defending well but Matthews drives through and ends up in Jackson's guard. Matthews is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jackson can do to turn this around? Matthews working some strikes from top position. Matthews has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jackson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Matthews keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jackson's head. Jackson wants to sweep but no luck. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jackson trying to keep a closed guard but Matthews is proving a slippery customer.

That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson has momentary wrist control but Matthews slips an elbow through the middle. Jackson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Matthews can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jackson is breathing heavily. Jackson trying to strike off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Jackson avoids the head kick by Matthews.
Matthews moves into range and clinches up with Jackson. Matthews is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Matthews manages to break the clinch.
Jackson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Matthews's guard. Allan Matthews overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Matthews is trying to keep Jackson in close.

Matthews pulls Jackson in to control the position. Matthews is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jackson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Jackson is refusing to be controlled, as Matthews sits in half guard. Jackson tries to roll over but Matthews keeps him under control. Matthews seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Matthews wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Matthews jumps guard but Jackson stands there with Matthews around his waist. Matthews gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jackson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Matthews fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Jackson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jackson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Matthews circles away. Allan Matthews has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyler Jackson. Matthews throws a sloppy head kick and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into guard. Matthews has his hands on Jackson's head, controlling the position.

Jackson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Matthews chips away with some ground and pound. Jackson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Matthews is now in half guard. Matthews is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Jackson looks like he's trying to stand up.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Tyler Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Matthews shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jackson as he jumps to the side. Allan Matthews is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Matthews shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Matthews was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Matthews slips a nice elbow through Jackson's hands, connecting with Jackson's forehead. Jackson wants to control but Matthews is keeping busy and won't allow it.
