Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Russell Lynn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Fynn! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Darius Henderson and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lynn ducks right into an uppercut from Fynn. Fynn misses with a looping left. Fynn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Lynn throws a series of strikes that have Fynn backpedaling.
It looks like Bob Fynn has been cut. Oh, that's a big right hand from Lynn and Fynn goes tumbling to the canvas! Lynn follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
Fynn is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lynn throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Fynn is still in real trouble! Can Lynn finish him? Lynn is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Lynn thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Fynn seems to have recovered his senses. Lynn missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Lynn not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Lynn with the ground and pound but Fynn uses the opportunity to regain guard. Lynn throwing strikes from guard but Fynn blocks nicely. Lynn preventing the sweep. Fynn is looking to stand up but Lynn isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lynn postures up in Fynn's guard and throws a big left but Fynn blocks it. Lynn throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Lynn with a flurry of punches that miss. Lynn stops Fynn from standing up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lynn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Lynn trying to control but Fynn is working from the bottom. Lynn throwing strikes but missing. Lynn postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Lynn is in close to Fynn's body, working some short punches and elbows. Fynn pushes Lynn off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lynn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A little jabbing left from Fynn on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Fynn ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lynn moves away. Lynn tries a head kick but it misses.
Fynn throws a fast counter high kick but Lynn manages to duck under it in time. Lynn has been working on his boxing with his coaches at K.O. Koala's in the buildup to the fight. Lynn misses with a leg kick and Fynn counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Fynn drives through with a takedown into Lynn's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Fynn has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lynn is proving hard to escape from. Lynn working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Fynn. Fynn scoring with some ground and pound. Fynn throwing strikes from guard but Lynn blocks nicely. Lynn preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fynn stopping the sweep attempt from Lynn. Lynn working a defensive guard but Fynn passes into half guard.
Fynn stands up out of the half guard. Fynn lands a head shot. Fynn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Good shot there by Lynn. Lynn fails to land with a series of punches.
Lynn misses with a wild body shot. Fynn stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Lynn. Lynn with a jab. Fynn uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lynn. Fynn sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fynn bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Lynn's head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Fynn takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Fynn looks to land a combination but Lynn avoids it well. Lynn misses with a hook. Lynn with a jab. Fynn thuds a left hand into Lynn's body. Fynn pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lynn drops his shoulder and cracks Fynn with a huge uppercut! Fynn goes down! Can Lynn finish him?
That has opened up Bob Fynn's cut even more. Lynn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Fynn preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lynn is looking to work some ground and pound but Fynn has wrist control. Fynn scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Lynn throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fynn stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Russell Lynn dominated that round. The cut man is working on Bob Fynn's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Lynn connects with a leg kick. Fynn looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Fynn throws a head kick but Lynn moves out of range.
Lynn lands with a right that hurts Fynn. Fynn looks to clinch but Lynn throws a short knee that drops Fynn. This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch and Knee). Russell Lynn! A relieved looking Russell Lynn thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
