Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Oliver Ruiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicky Herrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruiz comes to the cage accompanied by OCTAGON. Oliver Ruiz has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oliver Ruiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Nicky Herrera! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruiz throws a nice outside leg kick. Herrera closes the distance and clinches up with Ruiz, looking for a takedown. Herrera pushes Ruiz against the cage but Ruiz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ruiz throws a big counter combination but Herrera scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Herrera looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Herrera misses with a takedown attempt and Ruiz counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. A nice inside leg kick there by Ruiz. That's going to slow Herrera down. Ruiz darts in and clinches Herrera up against the cage. Ruiz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. No luck with that takedown attempt from Herrera. Ruiz wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Oliver Ruiz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nicky Herrera. Herrera tries to keep at a distance but Ruiz has taken the fight into the clinch. Ruiz scores a nice knee to the body.
Ruiz lands a good knee to the midsection. Herrera won't want to take too many of those. Ruiz struggles to land a body shot inside as Herrera controls his hands.

This has been an exciting period of action! Herrera is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. A short right from Ruiz on the inside. A right hand to the body from Ruiz.
Ruiz lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Herrera tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Ruiz successfully pulls guard.
Ruiz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Ruiz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Ruiz trying to control the position.
Ruiz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Herrera trying to control but Ruiz is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Herrera slips nicely into half guard. Herrera wants to pass to mount but Ruiz is defending the position. Herrera is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ruiz is just riding it out for now. Herrera eventually gives up the hold. Ruiz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Herrera on the ground. Ruiz is trying to maintain the position but Herrera is very close to passing his half guard. Herrera seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ruiz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Herrera looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Herrera is keen to just control but Ruiz is a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruiz moves into full guard.
Herrera stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ruiz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ruiz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Herrera's guard. Ruiz stands up over Herrera, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Ruiz trying to control but Herrera is working from the bottom. Herrera is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Herrera is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Herrera is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Ruiz is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
