PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roderick Chaney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donald Pollard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Roderick Chaney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Donald Pollard!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pollard with a lazy takedown attempt
and Chaney counters with a left and a right that stings Pollard.
Chaney with a poor takedown
and Pollard counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Pollard misses with a few strikes there.
Pollard shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chaney defends it nicely.
Chaney attempts a counter takedown but Pollard avoids it well and moves away.
Pollard does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Pollard tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Chaney swivels and escapes.
Roderick Chaney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donald Pollard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pollard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chaney but Chaney pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Chaney makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Chaney looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pollard fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Chaney tries to keep at a distance but Pollard has taken the fight into the clinch.

Pollard tries to pull guard but Chaney forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Chaney manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Chaney manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pollard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Pollard has gone for a leg lock! Chaney slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pollard's guard.

Chaney is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Chaney is looking to stand up but Pollard won't let him.
Pollard is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chaney loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Chaney throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pollard works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Donald Pollard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Pollard has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Chaney is on him like a limpet, forcing Pollard back against the cage.

Pollard gets underhooks to prevent Chaney's takedown attempt.

I would just about give that final round to Donald Pollard.
I think Pollard has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
