Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Carter Fitzgerald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sol Wakaso!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice inside leg kick there by Fitzgerald. That's going to slow Wakaso down.
Fitzgerald connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Fitzgerald swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fitzgerald does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Fitzgerald chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Wakaso moves in looking to clinch but Fitzgerald pushes him off.
Wakaso tries for a takedown but Fitzgerald circles away easily
and Fitzgerald counters with a head kick that drops Wakaso to the mat! Wakaso scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Fitzgerald throws a jab but it's blocked by Wakaso.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wakaso.
It looked like Fitzgerald was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Wakaso.
Wakaso shoots in and drives through. Fitzgerald sprawls well.
Carter Fitzgerald has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sol Wakaso.
A slapping leg kick lands for Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald throws a quick inside leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fitzgerald takes a swing at Wakaso's ribcage but misses.
Wakaso changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Wakaso takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Fitzgerald connects with an inside leg kick.
Wakaso shoots in for a double leg but Fitzgerald sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Whack! Fitzgerald lands a heavy head kick that drops Wakaso. The ref tackles Fitzgerald to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Wakaso was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Carter Fitzgerald!
