The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Urzu throws out a loose jab but Smith uses good head movement to avoid it.
Urzu throws a body shot but no joy.
Smith wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Urzu swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Urzu jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Smith feinted with a counter takedown.
Smith scores with a one two! Urzu had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Urzu struggling a bit here.
Smith tries to advance to mount but Urzu denies him.
Urzu is looking for a sweep.
Smith laying and praying for a moment but Urzu takes advantage and regains half guard.

Smith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Urzu defends it well.
Urzu is looking to control Smith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Urzu avoid being mounted?
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Urzu can do anything to dispel that myth.
Smith is taking a breather. Urzu says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Smith wants to pass to mount but Urzu is defending the position.
Smith is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Urzu sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.

Urzu is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Smith.
Jan Urzu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Urzu throws a looping overhand right but Smith ducks down to avoid it.
Smith is looking to counter the offense by Urzu and move into the clinch.
Smith moves away from the strike by Urzu.
Smith swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Smith avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Urzu bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Urzu waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Smith.
Urzu lands a big right hand that sends Smith crashing to the mat! Urzu stays standing though and waves Smith back to his feet!
It looks like Phoenix Smith has been cut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Urzu sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Urzu drops Smith with a big left hand! Smith is injured, injured bad! Urzu jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
