4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James McAvoy! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miller shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. McAvoy misses with a straight right. McAvoy swings and misses with a hook to the body.
McAvoy scores with a jab. Miller scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. McAvoy with a nice cross. Miller misses with a hook. McAvoy ducked under it nicely. McAvoy with a jab. McAvoy uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Miller. McAvoy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Miller throws out the jab. McAvoy now looks to counter with a shot at the body. James McAvoy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McAvoy getting the better of the striking in that exchange. McAvoy has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Miller throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A telegraphed right hand from Miller misses the target. McAvoy misses with a double jab
enabling Miller to counter with a crisp jab. McAvoy lands a nice shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. McAvoy throws a shot to the body.
McAvoy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Miller. Miller throws a series of punches but McAvoy moves out of range. McAvoy clobbers Miller with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. McAvoy lands a lovely overhand right. Miller dodges the punch combination from McAvoy.
McAvoy lands a big uppercut and Miller crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Miller looks OK. McAvoy waves Miller back to his feet!
Miller is rocked!
It looks like Jack Miller has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Miller swings widly with a right hand
and McAvoy counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Miller is breathing heavily. McAvoy cracks Miller with a left hook right on the temple and Miller goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! McAvoy lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Miller is OK!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). James McAvoy! James McAvoy retains his heavyweight title! After winning the bout, James McAvoy thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
