Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matthew Fang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Smedley Butler!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fang showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Butler.

Butler closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fang did well to prevent Butler getting side control.
Fang is trying to escape back to his feet but Butler uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Fang is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Fang holding on.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Butler trying to control the action but Fang is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fang regains half guard.
Fang keeping control of the position.

Butler is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Fang looking for submissions off his back.
Fang is pressing down on Butler's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Butler has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Fang is proving hard to escape from.
Fang wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Butler is now in half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Butler is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Fang keeping moving, preventing Butler from controlling successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Butler accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fang lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Fang lands a couple of elbows.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fang trying to control but Butler is working from the bottom.
Butler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fang. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Butler looking to control but Fang passes into half guard.
Nice strikes from Fang there.
Butler on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Fang frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Butler really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Fang has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Butler's face.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fang trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Fang in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Fang looking to finish Butler with some ground and pound. This is bad for Butler!
Butler looks winded!

Fang working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Fang jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Butler is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Butler and Fang has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Fang tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matthew Fang dominated that round.
That's time! Fang's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Fang fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Butler throws a counter combo.

Butler darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Butler not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Fang won't allow Butler to pass to mount.

Fang actively working from the bottom here.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Fang is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Butler's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Butler's back!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fang looking to soften up his opponent with punches.

Butler won't enjoy being in this position. Fang looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Butler is tapping - it's over boys! Fang picks up the submission victory!
