Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Muhammad Slayan!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Eddie Farnsworth and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slayan throws a right and a left that both miss.
Yang swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Yang forces Slayan back against the cage and clinches.
Yang could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Slayan manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Slayan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Yang pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Yang is trying to break the clinch but Slayan has him pressed against the cage.
Yang keeps control of Slayan as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slayan fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Slayan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Slayan wants a takedown.
Juan Yang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Muhammad Slayan.
Slayan will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Yang up against the cage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Slayan tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Yang smiles and moves away.

Yang appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Slayan lands with a nice body punch.

Slayan gets tackled into the cage by Yang. Yang maintains the clinch.
Yang can't break the clinch.
Slayan wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Yang has him pressed against the cage.

Slayan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Yang just stands there and leans against the cage.

Yang's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Slayan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Yang counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Slayan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Yang is fending him off so far but Slayan persists. Nope, Yang circles away and we're back to standing.
It looked like Yang was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Slayan.
Yang tries to clinch up but Slayan circles away and keeps his distance.

Slayan tries a knee to the head but Yang blocks it.
Yang blocks an elbow strike from Slayan.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Yang wants to get back to striking at distance but Slayan won't allow it.
Slayan prevents Yang from breaking the clinch.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Slayan shoots and misses
and Yang counters with a good, hard body kick but Slayan shrugs it off.
Muhammad Slayan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slayan throws a wild body kick that Yang sees coming a mile off.

Yang gets tackled into the cage by Slayan. Slayan maintains the clinch.
Slayan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Yang walks away with a smile on his face. Slayan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Slayan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Yang counters with a good low kick that Slayan was not able to check.
Slayan shoots in looking for a takedown. Yang tries to sprawl out of it but Slayan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Yang manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Slayan is breathing heavily.

Slayan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Yang decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Slayan wants to get back to full guard but Yang has passed into side control.
Yang cracks Slayan with a big right hand but Slayan just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Yang postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slayan wants to control but Yang is having none of it.
Yang looking to control but Slayan is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Slayan tries to lock up and control but Yang gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
