Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Solberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sherman McCullough (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Solberg comes into the arena with Bad Moon Rising blaring out of the sound system. Sherman McCullough has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Peter Solberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sherman McCullough!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by Solberg.
Solberg throws a nice outside leg kick.
Sherman McCullough seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McCullough scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
McCullough tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Solberg was well out of range. Poor timing from McCullough.
McCullough swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
McCullough lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McCullough throws a half hearted mid kick.
McCullough misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Solberg looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
McCullough throws a body shot but no joy.
Solberg attempts a counter takedown but McCullough avoids it well and moves away.
Good leg kick by Solberg there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
McCullough scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Solberg swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by McCullough.
A slapping leg kick lands for Solberg.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McCullough digs a good body shot into Solberg's ribs.
McCullough misses with a looping left.
As McCullough backs away, Solberg returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
McCullough misses with a few strikes there.
McCullough takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
A big left from Solberg misses.
McCullough looks for the body kick but Solberg saw that one coming.

Solberg slips a jab and a cross from McCullough.
Solberg swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
McCullough swings and misses with a shot to the body
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Solberg moves forwards but McCullough connects with a nice, crisp jab.
McCullough lands a two punch combo.
Solberg connects with an inside leg kick.
Solberg goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
McCullough swings for the body but Solberg moves out of range.
Solberg feinted with a counter takedown.
Solberg uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McCullough.
Solberg connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between McCullough's hands.
A nice inside leg kick there by Solberg. That's going to slow McCullough down.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McCullough throws a predictable looking body shot
and Solberg counters with a nice low kick that buckles McCullough's knee momentarily.
Solberg takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
A clash of legs there as Solberg blocks the low kick.
McCullough tries to bum rush Solberg with a series of wild strikes but Solberg uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McCullough lands the left hand.
Solberg connects with an inside leg kick.

McCullough checks a low kick from Solberg.
Some wild striking there from McCullough.
Solberg scores with the left hand. McCullough knows he should have avoided that one.
A clash of legs there as Solberg blocks the low kick.
McCullough falls off balance throwing a combination

and Solberg counters with a nice double leg into guard.
McCullough wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Solberg manages to pass to side control.

Solberg is trying to control. McCullough wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McCullough can do anything to dispel that myth.
McCullough is trying desperately to improve position.
Solberg fails to move to back control.
McCullough can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Solberg looking to control but McCullough is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Solberg is working for a guillotine from mount but McCullough frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McCullough wants to control but Solberg is having none of it.

Solberg is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. McCullough can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
McCullough tries to get back to half guard but can't.
McCullough wants to control but Solberg is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Peter Solberg will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


A looping hook to the body misses from McCullough. Solberg does a little dance to reset his feet.
Solberg changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
McCullough misses with a double jab
and Solberg counters with an inside leg kick.
McCullough swings for the body but Solberg moves out of range.
Solberg moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Solberg. That's going to slow McCullough down.
McCullough missing with a left hand there. Solberg was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Solberg does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
McCullough takes a swing at Solberg's ribcage but misses.
Solberg is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

McCullough throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from McCullough lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Solberg has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Solberg and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

McCullough misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Solberg wants to slow McCullough down by chopping away at his legs.
Solberg misses with an uppercut.

McCullough takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Solberg closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
McCullough misses the body punch

and Solberg counters with a single leg into guard. McCullough didn't expect that.

Solberg lands a head kick!


It looks like Sherman McCullough has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Solberg throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by McCullough.
McCullough takes a swing at Solberg's ribcage but misses.
McCullough misses with a kick to the body.
Solberg lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
McCullough takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Solberg keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
McCullough just misses with a punch to the body.
McCullough throws a jab when Solberg was well out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Solberg lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
McCullough throws a body kick that misses

and Solberg counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Solberg trying to pass the guard but McCullough defending well.
Solberg frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Solberg tries to take McCullough's back but instead McCullough uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Solberg passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for McCullough!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Solberg moves to take his opponent's back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Solberg has got one arm under McCullough's chin. This could be trouble... McCullough trying to control the other hand but Solberg gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, McCullough has tapped out! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Peter Solberg!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Peter Solberg waved his t-shirt featuring Zenith Nutrition (160q/225$)'s logo in front of the cameras.
