Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Clement Giles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gatis Kaulins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Clement Giles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gatis Kaulins!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kaulins fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Giles, pushing him back against the cage.
Kaulins looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Kaulins is trying to pull guard but Giles has him pressed against the cage.
Kaulins has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Giles after a bit of a struggle.
Kaulins is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Giles pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Clement Giles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gatis Kaulins.

Giles is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kaulins can't fight it off and eventually Giles manages to take the fight to the floor. Kaulins looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Giles keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kaulins's head.

Giles seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kaulins for as long as he can get away with.
Giles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kaulins has Giles pulled in close to control his posture.
Kaulins has momentary wrist control but Giles slips an elbow through the middle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Giles is in close to Kaulins's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Giles engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Kaulins looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Giles controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Giles won't allow Kaulins to get back to his feet.
Giles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kaulins looking to hit a scissor sweep but Giles is one step ahead there.
Giles is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Giles is nestled in close to Kaulins, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Kaulins keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Giles is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kaulins is just riding it out for now. Giles eventually gives up the hold.
Giles has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Giles has Kaulins pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Giles pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kaulins tumbling to the mat - Giles dives into Kaulins's guard.
Giles won't allow Kaulins to get back to his feet.
Giles lands a couple of elbows.

Giles postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kaulins is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Giles, into his guard.

Kaulins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Giles swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kaulins is breathing heavily.

Giles is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Giles continues to stall.
Kaulins trying to control from the bottom.
Giles keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Giles drops an elbow to the side of Kaulins's head.

Kaulins is looking to get back to full guard here but Giles has managed to pass to side control instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kaulins is trying to escape the position but Giles is controlling the position.

Giles thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The referee asks Giles politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Giles prefers to stall for the moment though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Giles connects with a nice short shot to Kaulins's temple.
Giles seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Kaulins tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Giles manages to move to mount!

Well Giles has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
