Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vassago Ballardo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
14 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Robinson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Darius Henderson and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robinson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Robinson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like Chris Robinson has been cut.
Robinson throws a right hand that misses
and Ballardo counters with a head kick that drops Robinson to the mat! Robinson scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
A slapping body kick lands there for Ballardo.
A nice leg kick lands there from Ballardo.
Ballardo scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Robinson throws a combination. Ballardo tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Vassago Ballardo has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ballardo leaves Robinson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ballardo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
It looked like Ballardo wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Robinson throws a leg kick which misses Ballardo's front leg but catches the back leg as Ballardo tries to avoid it.
Oooooh!!! Ballardo has knocked Robinson down with a huge combo! Ballardo steps away and waves a wobbly Robinson back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Ballardo cracks Robinson with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Robinson falls to his knees and Ballardo doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vassago Ballardo!
An out of breath Vassago Ballardo thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
