Franklin's entrance music is Tron Cat- Tyler, The Creator. A fine choice. Vallar Morghulis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

With a record of 6 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vallar Morghulis!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morghulis looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Franklin!
Franklin's coaches at Rabid Dog have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Morghulis is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Franklin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Morghulis.

Morghulis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Morghulis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Franklin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Morghulis is aware though and is defending well.

Morghulis drops back looking for a leg! Franklin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Franklin manages to kick Morghulis off! Morghulis jumps back into Franklin's guard.

Franklin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Morghulis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Morghulis's back!

Franklin is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Morghulis's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Morghulis is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Franklin gets his way!

James Franklin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Morghulis has his hands clasped together but Franklin extends and breaks Morghulis's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Franklin.
