Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jose Cuervo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ali Pasha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jose Cuervo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Ali Pasha! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cuervo throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pasha sees it coming and avoids it easily. Cuervo throws a lazy right hand but Pasha sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Cuervo throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Nice body punch from Cuervo. A kick lands to the mid section there for Cuervo. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Cuervo checks a leg kick. Cuervo jabbing away but nothing is landing. Pasha tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. A looping hook to the body misses from Cuervo. Pasha does a little dance to reset his feet. Cuervo misses with a body punch
and Pasha counters with a good, hard body kick but Cuervo shrugs it off. Pasha moves out of range as Cuervo strikes. Pasha with the counter takedown but Cuervo avoids it easily. Pasha drives through with a takedown into Cuervo's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Pasha is standing up over Cuervo. Cuervo looks to escape but Pasha dives into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pasha is trying to get an arm triangle but Cuervo is defending well. Cuervo is trying to improve his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pasha decides to stand back up. Pasha steps back and let's Cuervo get back to his feet. Pasha with a poor takedown and Cuervo counters with a nice uppercut. Nice takedown defense from Cuervo. No joy for Pasha on that attempt. Pasha dives in and grabs Cuervo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cuervo pushes down on Pasha's head and hops out. Jose Cuervo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ali Pasha. Cuervo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pasha throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cuervo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Pasha is in Cuervo's guard. Cuervo working a defensive guard here.
Cuervo is pulling down on Pasha's head. It's preventing any offense from Pasha, at least for the moment. Pasha sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pasha won't allow Cuervo to sweep him here. Pasha wants to control from the top but Cuervo keeps moving. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Pasha wants to pass the guard but Cuervo is keeping the position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pasha fails to land the takedown. Pasha is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cuervo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Cuervo connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Cuervo swings for the body but Pasha moves out of range.
Pasha throws a head kick that misses. Pasha fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cuervo sprawls well initially but Pasha persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Pasha scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Cuervo holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Pasha performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Pasha looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Pasha is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cuervo sees it coming and defends easily. Pasha is keen to just control but Cuervo is a slippery customer. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jose Cuervo will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Pasha gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Jose Cuervo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pasha instigates a clinch. Cuervo is trying to break free. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pasha creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. A head punch on the inside from Pasha fails to land. Pasha scores with a shoulder strike. Cuervo throws a punch but it's blocked by Pasha. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Pasha. Cuervo tries a body shot but Pasha blocks it.
Pasha throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Cuervos head. Pasha lands with a short shot to the head. Pasha softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Pasha makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pasha creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. This has been an exciting period of action! Cuervo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Cuervo moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Cuervo connects with a nice looking jab.
Pasha fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pasha closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. A short right hand to the side of the head by Pasha. Cuervo tries to pull guard but Pasha won't allow it.
Cuervo breaks the clinch.
Cuervo pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Cuervo misses with a wild body shot. Pasha with the counter takedown but Cuervo avoids it easily. Jose Cuervo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Cuervo getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Cuervo scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Pasha keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Pasha fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cuervo, pushing him back against the cage. Cuervo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Pasha walks into a jab. Cuervo throws a right hand that misses
and Pasha counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pasha. Pasha swings away with an uppercut that misses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cuervo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cuervo throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Pasha shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cuervo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Pasha trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pasha drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cuervo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pasha has Cuervo in his guard. Pasha utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Cuervo looking to sit in guard and control but Pasha gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Pasha looking to sit in guard and control but Cuervo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cuervo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ali Pasha has got the better of the ground game so far. Cuervo throws an elbow that misses. Pasha uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cuervo's guard. Nice move by Pasha! Pasha is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Pasha postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Cuervo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pasha controls the pace. Pasha is continuing to stall. Pasha connects with a couple of short punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cuervo wants to control the position but Pasha says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Pasha tries to pass to full mount but Cuervo defends it. Cuervo trying to control but Pasha postures up.
Pasha trying to control from half guard but Cuervo is working away. Pasha missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Cuervo tries to roll over but Pasha keeps him under control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ali Pasha showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Cuervo lands with a shot to the body. Cuervo is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Nice body kick there by Cuervo. The fight stays on the outside here - Pasha looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cuervo looks to land a right hand but Pasha moved out of range. Pasha misses with a takedown attempt - Cuervo sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Cuervo misses with a body kick. Cuervo thuds his shin into the meat of Pasha's side. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pasha is defended easily by Cuervo. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pasha moves into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pasha fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Cuervo tries to circle away but Pasha has him pinned against the cage. Cuervo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Cuervo works the jab nicely. Pasha shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cuervo but Cuervo pushes him off and we're back to square one. Jose Cuervo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ali Pasha. Cuervo misses with a body kick. Cuervo looks to score with a jab to the body but Pasha is just out of range. Cuervo misses with a body shot.
Pasha lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Cuervo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pasha looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Pasha doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Cuervo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pasha manages to avoid it. Pasha manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cuervo on his heels. He'll look to pass Cuervo's guard now, I'm sure. Pasha in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cuervo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Pasha cracks Cuervo with a solid left hand. This has been an exciting period of action! Pasha throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cuervo works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pasha's corner is telling him to maintain position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pasha accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Pasha stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cuervo swivels though and keeps the full guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Pasha is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cuervo connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Pasha wants to clinch. Pasha moves out of range as Cuervo strikes. A momentary lapse in concentration from Cuervo enables Pasha to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cuervo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Cuervo is looking to stand back up but Pasha counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Cuervo. Pasha wants to take a breather but Cuervo is having none of it. Pasha is looking to pass Cuervo's guard but actually Cuervo recovers to full guard. Pasha won't allow Cuervo to sweep him here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cuervo has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Pasha has passed into side control.
Cuervo takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Pasha wants to control but Cuervo is keeping him busy. Cuervo gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Cuervo is desperately trying to improve his position but Pasha has a good base and remains in mount.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jose Cuervo. I think Cuervo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Jose Cuervo! Jose Cuervo decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. The defeated Ali Pasha had this to say: 'He was the better fighter tonight. But I will be back'.
