Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gil Walton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shakur Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis has chosen Ambitionz Az a Ridah as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gil Walton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shakur Davis!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis throws a looping overhand right but Walton ducks down to avoid it.
A punch combination from Davis misses.
Davis misses with a jab, cross combination.

Walton seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Davis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Walton.
Despite the aggression on Davis's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Davis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Walton.
Walton loads up on a big right hand but Davis slips the punch.
Davis is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Davis cracks Walton with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Davis misses with a few strikes there.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walton looks to land a combination but Davis avoids it well.

Davis rushes Walton and presses him up against the cage.

Davis shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Walton eats them both and turns towards Davis to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Davis is trying to force a seperation but Walton has the dominant position.

Walton avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Walton drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Davis manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Walton has Davis in his guard.

Walton wants to stand up but Davis is controlling him.

Walton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Davis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Walton utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Davis throws a hook to the side of Walton's head but Walton sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Oh Walton is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Walton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

As Walton backs off Davis throws a huge counter combo but Walton manages to avoid it all.

Walton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Walton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Davis knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Davis is letting Walton control him for a moment.
Davis wants to get back to his feet but Walton drags him back down.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Walton is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Shakur Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Davis throws a right and a left that both miss.

Walton changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Davis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Walton decides to stand back up. Walton steps back and let's Davis get back to his feet.

Walton scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Davis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walton is nestled in close to Davis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Walton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Davis is just riding it out for now. Walton eventually gives up the hold.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Walton takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Shakur Davis is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Walton connects with a nice short shot to Davis's temple.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Gil Walton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

I would just about give that final round to Shakur Davis.
I've got Davis winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A determined Shakur Davis didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
