PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gil Nambatac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erin Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gil Nambatac!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Erin Wright!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wright closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nambatac to the mat! Nambatac manages to get full guard.
Wright is standing up over Nambatac. Nambatac looks to escape but Wright dives into side control.

Nambatac is looking for a sweep.
Wright fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Wright tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Wright trying to control the position but Nambatac is working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Nambatac is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Nambatac knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wright on the ground.

Wright has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Wright is looking to take a break and control but Nambatac is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Nambatac really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Nambatac avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Wright.
Nambatac has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Nambatac takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Wright content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Wright is looking to take a break and control but Nambatac is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Nambatac can't do much from the bottom here.

Wright lands some shots froms side control.
Wright misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Wright thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Nambatac is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Wright wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nambatac keeps working.
Wright moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Nambatac is not content to let Wright control the position.
Wright is working Nambatac over with some ground and pound from side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nambatac is not content to let Wright control the position.
Wright wants to take a breather but Nambatac manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Wright.
Wright trying to control but Nambatac is working from the bottom.
Wright passes Nambatac's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Wright looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nambatac with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Nambatac is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Wright scores with a couple of nice shots.
Nambatac is trying to maintain the position but Wright is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Erin Wright dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Wright scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Nambatac bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Wright, as that shot connected.

Nambatac shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are battling for position here. Wright manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Nambatac looking to improve position, pressing down on Wright's thigh with his hand. Wright seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Nambatac paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Nambatac's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Wright picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Erin Wright!
