The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mallox clinches with his opponent.

De Janeiro is keen to just control but Mallox is a slippery customer. De Janeiro with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mallox wants to lay and pray for a moment but De Janeiro keeps working. A lull in the action here. De Janeiro tries to improve position but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mallox trying to control the position but De Janeiro is working away. Mallox decides to stand up, so the ref orders De Janeiro to his feet. Mallox lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Mallox punishes De Janeiro's body with a nice straight punch. Mallox slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Mallox tries to clinch up. Mallox closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Mallox goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Mallox just misses with a elbow thrown towards De Janeiro's brow. Mallox gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Scott Mallox dominated that round. The cut man is working on Rico De Janeiro's cut. That's time! De Janeiro's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Mallox gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Mallox lands a right hand. De Janeiro tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Mallox lands with a right to the head. Mallox pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Mallox has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Mallox lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down De Janeiro. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mallox lands a left hand.
De Janeiro jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mallox walks away with a smile on his face. De Janeiro gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. De Janeiro gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Mallox counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mallox. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rico De Janeiro. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mallox works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Mallox lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops De Janeiro to his knees! Mallox keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Scott Mallox! In his post fight interview, Scott Mallox started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
