Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rod Raskolnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe McJoe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rod Raskolnikov!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe McJoe!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McJoe smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
McJoe closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Raskolnikov stuffs the takedown.
McJoe throws a body shot but no joy.

McJoe bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
McJoe prevents Raskolnikov from escaping the position.
McJoe wants to control but Raskolnikov is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Raskolnikov is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The ground and pound from McJoe seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
McJoe advances to mount.
Raskolnikov wants to hold on but McJoe pushes him away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Raskolnikov tries to buck McJoe off but he can't manage it.
McJoe wants to control the pace but Raskolnikov is squirming around nicely.

McJoe can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Raskolnikov is looking to escape.
Raskolnikov's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

McJoe jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Raskolnikov manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Raskolnikov regains half guard there - taking advantage of McJoe's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

McJoe is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We've been hearing good reports from Raskolnikov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McJoe ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. McJoe no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Raskolnikov wants to get up but he can't break McJoe's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
