Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bill Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roberts comes to the ring accompanied by man in the box. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Roberts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roy Nelson! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roberts tries for a takedown but Nelson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Nelson with a lazy takedown attempt and Roberts decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Nelson's guard. Nelson working for a triangle but Roberts defends it easily.
Roberts preventing the sweep. Roberts drops back looking for a leg! Nelson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nelson manages to kick Roberts off! Roberts jumps back into Nelson's guard. Nelson looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Roberts passes into half guard.

Nelson wants to get back to full guard. Nelson is looking to control Roberts's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nelson avoid being mounted? Nelson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Nelson moves into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Roberts thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Nelson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Nelson wants to control but Roberts passes easily into half guard.
Nelson wants to get back to full guard. Nelson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nelson. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Roberts has passed into half guard!
Nelson is looking for a sweep. Roberts is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Roberts is trying to control. Nelson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Nelson is trying to get back to full guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nelson can do anything to dispel that myth. Roberts seems to be working for a kimura but Nelson defends the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Nelson gets back to full guard.
Nelson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Roberts working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nelson wants to sweep here but Roberts controlling him for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bill Roberts dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Roberts fails with the takedown and Nelson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Nelson. Nelson tries to free his leg and advance position but Roberts is retaining full guard. Nelson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Nelson is looking to work some ground and pound but Roberts has wrist control. Nelson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Roberts has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nelson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Nelson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Nelson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Roberts's guard. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Nelson has eaten all the pies! Nelson is just content to waste time from the top position. Roberts takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Roberts escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nelson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Nelson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Nelson tries to free his leg and advance position but Roberts is retaining full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Nelson's corner is telling him to maintain position. Roberts keeping full guard, as Nelson tries to pass. Nelson trying to control the position from guard on top but Roberts is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nelson working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nelson connects with a couple of short punches. Roberts keeping full guard, as Nelson tries to pass. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roy Nelson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Roberts's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Nelson is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Roberts has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Roberts! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Nelson wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roberts loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Nelson trying to control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Roberts shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Nelson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Roberts's guard. Roberts utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Nelson postures up and lands a big shot to Roberts's brow. Nelson tries to free his leg and advance position but Roberts is retaining full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Roberts is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Roberts has escaped and now he's on top! Roberts scoring with punches to the head and body. Nelson trying to keep a closed guard but Roberts is proving a slippery customer.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bill Roberts. I think Roberts has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
