The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gomez wants it to stay on the feet.
Dave Jimmies seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A lazy body kick from Gomez
and Jimmies counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Gomez!
Gomez is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jimmies tries for a kimura but Gomez is defending well.
Gomez wants to get back to his feet but Jimmies drags him back down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gomez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jimmies's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jimmies's back!
Gomez is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Gomez is cranking Jimmies's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Jimmies! He's tightened the choke and Jimmies is tapping out!
