The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cavendish defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Campion.
Campion throws a series of punches but Cavendish avoids them all with ease.
Campion takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Campion fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Cavendish scores with a jab to the jaw.
Cavendish's corner calls for a 1-2. Cavendish obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Danga de danga de dang - Cavendish scores with a four punch combination!
Cavendish misses the jab.
Campion throws a series of punches but Cavendish avoids them all with ease.
Cavendish slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Cavendish bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Campion's head backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Campion shoots in and drives through. Cavendish sprawls well.
Marcel Cavendish has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Campion.
Cavendish stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Campion throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cavendish works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Campion wants to control from the top but Cavendish keeps moving.

Campion is pushing down on Cavendish's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cavendish is fighting to maintain full guard but Campion has managed to sneak the leg through.
Cavendish wants to improve his position but Campion is controlling well.

Horrible takedown attempt by Campion or perhaps it was just good defense by Cavendish, which made it look bad.

Campion closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Campion lands in his opponent's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cavendish is on top in guard.


Campion working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cavendish doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cavendish manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Campion feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cavendish lands a leg kick that knocks Campion off balance momentarily.
Cavendish stuns Campion with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

And Campion tries to counter it with a takedown but Cavendish pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Cavendish is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Campion can do to turn this around?
Campion has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Campion there as he acknowledges the shot.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cavendish, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
