The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stokes fails with a takedown attempt.
Emelianenko slaps away a takedown attempt from Stokes, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Emelianenko thuds a left hand into Stokes's body.
Stokes throws a hook but Emelianenko blocks it.

and Stokes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trevor Stokes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Emelianenko fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Stokes looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Emelianenko avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Stokes throws a head kick but Emelianenko moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stokes falls off balance throwing a combination
and Emelianenko counters with a nice uppercut.
Emelianenko stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

It looks like Trevor Stokes has been cut.
Stokes throws a head kick that half lands.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Emelianenko throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Stokes is breathing heavily.

A punch lands to the side of Stokes 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Emelianenko keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Emelianenko rushes Stokes and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Stokes is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Emelianenko piles on the pressure and Stokes crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
