Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pavel Datsyuk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Oddis Slajos! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slajos is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Datsyuk. Datsyuk looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Oddis Slajos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Good leg kick by Datsyuk there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Datsyuk takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Slajos with a body punch. A glancing blow. Slajos gets a double leg takedown into Datsyuk's guard. Datsyuk utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Slajos advances position into side control! Slajos working the ground and pound. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Slajos is chipping away with strikes.
It looks like Pavel Datsyuk has been cut. Datsyuk is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Slajos looks to land a strike but Datsyuk avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Datsyuk looking to control.
Slajos distracts Datsyuk with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Slajos throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slajos is looking to work some ground and pound but Datsyuk has wrist control. Slajos connects with a couple of short punches. Slajos cracks Datsyuk with a solid left hand. Datsyuk looking to control.

Datsyuk utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Slajos postures up and lands a big shot to Datsyuk's brow. Slajos with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Datsyuk not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Slajos works over Datsyuk with some ground and pound from guard. Datsyuk knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Slajos on the ground. Slajos makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Datsyuk avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Slajos wants to pass the guard but Datsyuk is keeping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Datsyuk controls Slajos momentarily but Slajos frees himself. Slajos working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Slajos chips away with some ground and pound. Slajos lands a couple of elbows. Slajos scoring with some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Datsyuk has momentary wrist control but Slajos slips an elbow through the middle. Slajos postures up in Datsyuk's guard and throws a big left but Datsyuk blocks it. Slajos with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Slajos stands and throws Datsyuk's legs to the side, diving into side control. Slajos landing strikes. Slajos working the ground and pound. Datsyuk takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Slajos creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Slajos cracks Datsyuk with a big elbow. Slajos landing strikes. This has been an exciting period of action! You can see the frustration on Datsyuk's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Datsyuk seems to have got his legs back now. Slajos is putting a hurting on Datsyuk here, landing some big shots from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Datsyuk takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Slajos connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Datsyuk some visible discomfort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Datsyuk taking punishment in the form of punches.
Datsyuk holds on to Slajos's head and controls the position momentarily. Slajos scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Datsyuk is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Slajos can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
