Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Carey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oliver Closov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carey's entrance music is Lateralus. A fine choice. Closov has chosen Can't be touched as his entrance music. Oliver Closov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!

With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Danny Carey!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oliver Closov!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Closov lands a nice looking body shot.
A big left from Closov misses.
Carey feinted with a counter takedown.
Closov throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Oliver Closov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Closov lands with a straight right. Carey didn't see that one coming.
Carey really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nice defenses there by Carey.
Carey feinted with a counter takedown.
Closov feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Careys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Closov scores with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Closov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A slow jab from Closov misses its intended target.
Closov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Carey manages to avoid it.
Carey appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Closov lunges at Carey with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Carey's hand.
Closov tries to bum rush Carey with a series of wild strikes but Carey uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Carey feinted with a counter takedown.
Closov works Carey's body with a nice hook.
Carey blocks a jab.
Closov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Carey changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Closov throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carey appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Closov throws an off balance right hand

and Carey counters with a shoot takedown. Closov fights it but they end up in guard.
Carey passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Carey is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Carey is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Closov defends it well.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Carey is trying to work for a kimura but Closov is defending well.
Closov felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Carey is looking for a kimura here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carey wants to work for an arm triangle but Closov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Carey looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Closov can do anything to dispel that myth.
Carey is trying to control the action in half guard but Closov is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Carey passes the guard and advances to mount!
Closov is squirming around, avoiding Carey's attempts to control the action.

Carey looking to isolate an arm here. Closov doesn't see it coming and as Carey extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Carey!

The defeated Oliver Closov had this to say: 'He's still uglier than me.'.
