Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Suleijma Tudekiks! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Glass Joe! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joe throws a one two combo.
It looks like Suleijma Tudekiks has been cut. Joe shoots in and drives through. Tudekiks sprawls well. Tudekiks instigates a clinch. Tudekiks has Joe pressed against the cage.
Joe decides to pull guard. Joe looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Joe is trying to control the position but Tudekiks postures up. Joe manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tudekiks manages to get himself to full guard.
Joe makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Joe lands a couple of decent looking shots. Joe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Joe tries to free his leg and advance position but Tudekiks is retaining full guard. Joe won't allow Tudekiks to get back to his feet. Joe looking to pass the guard. Joe is in close to Tudekiks's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tudekiks is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Tudekiks has momentary wrist control but Joe slips an elbow through the middle.
Tudekiks is rocked!
Suleijma Tudekiks's cut is getting worse. Tudekiks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Joe arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Tudekiks's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Glass Joe! Glass Joe retains his middleweight title! In his post fight interview, Glass Joe started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
