PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ernesto Panado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gwegowy East (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Panado might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Lorde - Team . East has chosen I Can't Think- Whole Wheat Bread as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ernesto Panado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gwegowy East!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Panado drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Panado keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from East.
Panado shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. East defends it nicely.

Panado gets caught flat footed, as East shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
East wants to control from the top but Panado keeps moving.
Panado bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in East's guard.


Panado is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Panado pushing down on East's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Panado tries to pass to full mount but East defends it.
East wants to improve his position but Panado is controlling well.
East is trying to maintain the position but Panado is very close to passing his half guard.

Panado tries to pass the half guard into mount. East knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Panado is pressing down on East's thigh, looking to free his foot. East is holding on for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

East is working Panado over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

East got a little sloppy there for a moment and Panado has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, East has managed to get both his arms back between Panado's legs - danger averted.

East must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Panado seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
East postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
East works over Panado with some ground and pound from guard.
East lands a couple of elbows.

Panado wants to sweep but no luck.
East keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Panado's head.
East is pushing down on Panado's leg trying to pass to half guard. Panado is fighting to maintain full guard but East has managed to sneak the leg through.
Panado is pressing down on East's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
East is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Panado is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Panado works his foot free and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
East is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
East is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Gwegowy East will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


East tries to work over Panado's front leg with a kick but Panado checks it.

East shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Panado manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
East lands a couple of digs.

Panado is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and East defends well.

East chips away with some ground and pound.
Gwegowy East has got the better of the ground game so far.
East working some strikes from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Panado is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! East rolls with it to try and escape but Panado cranks on the arm and East is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ernesto Panado!
A relieved looking Ernesto Panado thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
