PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wes Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Berengard Dambra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Berengard Dambra told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Wes Edwards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Berengard Dambra!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Phil Schofield and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edwards throws a left and a right that both miss
and Dambra counters with a head kick. That will keep Edwards thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Dambra throws a right and a left that both miss.
Dambra uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Edwards.
Berengard Dambra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice takedown defense from Dambra. No joy for Edwards on that attempt.

Edwards shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Edwards showed some decent athleticism there.

Dambra wants to improve his position but Edwards is controlling well.

Edwards has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Edwards's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Edwards is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Edwards accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dambra is working an open guard so Edwards takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Edwards changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dambra looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Edwards clinches with his opponent.
Dambra is looking to control Edwards's arms but Edwards gets an underhook and turns him. Now Dambra has his back to the cage.

Edwards manages to break the clinch.

Dambra has closed the distance and engaged Edwards in a clinch.

Edwards prevents a takedown attempt there.
Dambra has Edwards pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Edwards manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Edwards breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dambra throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Edwards counters with a left and a right that stings Dambra.

Edwards feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Edwards is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dambra doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Edwards.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Edwards is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dambra can do to turn this around?

Edwards drops back looking for a leg! Dambra is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dambra manages to kick Edwards off! Edwards jumps back into Dambra's guard.

Edwards's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Edwards, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
