PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Winston Marrs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Fipps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marrs comes to the cage accompanied by Big Rhino. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brian Fipps!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fipps throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Fipps takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Fipps moves out of range of the body kick from Marrs.
Marrs ducks under a wild hook from Fipps.
Marrs tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Fipps manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Fipps appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Fipps misses with a wild body shot.
Fipps throws a body shot but no joy.
Marrs tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Fipps thuds a left hand into Marrs's body.
Fipps connects with a good right hand that stumbles Marrs. Marrs circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Marrs scores with a body shot.
Fipps throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marrs takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Fipps misses with a wild body shot.
Fipps blocks a head kick by Marrs.
The fight stays on the outside here - Marrs looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Brian Fipps seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marrs is looking to clinch but Fipps is avoiding it.

Fipps throws a poor cross that misses
and Marrs counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Fipps thinking.
Marrs tries to clinch but Fipps moves out of range.
Marrs tries to close the distance and clinch but Fipps swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fipps stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Marrs.
Fipps's corner calls for a 1-2. Fipps obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Marrs fails with an attempt to clinch.
Marrs cracks a nice hook into Fipps's ribs.
Marrs moves in looking to clinch but Fipps pushes him off.
Marrs keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Fipps throws a hook but Marrs avoids it easily.
Fipps throws a poor cross that misses
and Marrs counters with a nice body shot.
Fipps fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Marrs manages to avoid it.
Marrs takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Marrs wants to clinch
and Fipps counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Marrs walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Fipps checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fipps misses the shot to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fipps swings for the body but Marrs moves out of range.
Marrs is looking to wear down Fipps with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Marrs on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Fipps pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Fipps lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Marrs takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Marrs is breathing heavily.
Fipps lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A looping hook to the body misses from Fipps. Marrs does a little dance to reset his feet.
Marrs ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Fipps scores with a hook.
Fipps misses the shot to the body.
Marrs tries to clinch up.
It seemed like Fipps was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Fipps misses with a few strikes there.
Marrs has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Marrs there as he acknowledges the shot.
Marrs avoids the body shot from Fipps.
Marrs could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Marrs is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Fipps.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A solid leg kick lands there for Marrs.

Fipps pushes Marrs up against the cage in a clinch.
Fipps stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Marrs looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Fipps scores with a hook to the body.
Fipps lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A short right from Fipps.
Fipps digs a right hand underneath Marrs's ribcage. Marrs let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Fipps pushes Marrs back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Fipps is leaning against Marrs and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Fipps stalls.
Nice body punch from Fipps.
Fipps is struggling to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fipps lands with a right to the head.
Fipps lands a left hand.
Fipps digs a right hand into Marrs's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Marrs's gas tank.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fipps digs a right hand underneath Marrs's ribcage. Marrs let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Fipps lands a left hand.
Fipps lands a body punch in the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Fipps creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Fipps.


Marrs is rocked!
Fipps presses Marrs against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Marrs's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Oh Marrs is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fipps smacks Marrs right on the bridge of the nose with a massive elbow! Another one lands and Marrs goes down! He's clearly dazed - will he beat the count? 3,4,5,6,7... up to one knee... 8,9,10! He's not made it! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Elbows). Brian Fipps!
After the fight, Brian Fipps was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
