Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Whitaker ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Maul! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Whitaker is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Maul. Maul misses with a wild body shot. Whitaker throws a body shot but no joy. Maul bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Whitaker 's head. Maul rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Whitaker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Whitaker scores with a punch to the head. Nice body punch from Maul. Maul keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Maul misses with a left hand and Whitaker counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Maul rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Whitaker counters with a left to the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Whitaker lands with a nice body punch. Maul throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Paul Maul seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Maul misses with a lunging right hand
and Whitaker counters with a straight right hand. Maul misses with a double jab
and Whitaker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Maul takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. A nice leg kick lands there from Whitaker . Whitaker lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Maul at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maul slips a jab from Whitaker . Maul throws a shot from downtown. Whitaker moves away and avoids it. Whitaker 's corner calls for a 1-2. Whitaker obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Maul throws a lazy uppercut
and Whitaker connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Maul rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Whitaker counters with a lovely straight right hand! Whitaker looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Maul swings widly with a right hand
and Whitaker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Maul scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Whitaker gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Maul gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Whitaker is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paul Maul! A relieved looking Paul Maul thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
