PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Samwell Tarly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murphy MacManus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murphy MacManus told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tarly gets in close and instigates a clinch.

MacManus breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Tarly comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Tarly walks into a stiff left hand from MacManus.
Murphy MacManus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
MacManus looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Tarly tries to clinch up but MacManus circles away and keeps his distance.

MacManus drags the fight down to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Tarly pushes MacManus away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, MacManus gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Tarly is looking to regain half guard here but MacManus keeps moving and retains side control.

Tarly is trying to work for a sweep but MacManus has mounted him!
MacManus manages to capitalize on a mistake by Tarly to take his back!
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

MacManus slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

You can see the frustration on Tarly's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
MacManus biding his time, looking for the opening.

Tarly is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Tarly is looking to clinch.
As Tarly backs off MacManus throws a huge counter combo but Tarly manages to avoid it all.
MacManus thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Tarly if he has to take too many more of those.

Tarly rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and MacManus counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
MacManus slips under a jab from Tarly.

A quick step to the side and Tarly tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tarly clobbers MacManus with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Tarly is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from MacManus.
MacManus circles away from the clinch attempt.
MacManus throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Tarly on the side of the head.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Tarly creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
