Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Reece Macdonald! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Toby Mcguire! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mcguire gets a clinch. Macdonald has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mcguire avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Macdonald is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Mcguire is defending well. Mcguire stops a takedown attempt from Macdonald.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Reece Macdonald. That's going to take a lot out of him. Macdonald is trying to drag Mcguire to the mat but Mcguire just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Macdonald has Mcguire pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Macdonald pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mcguire tumbling to the mat - Macdonald dives into Mcguire's guard. Macdonald is standing up over Mcguire. Mcguire looks to escape but Macdonald dives into side control.
Mcguire is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Macdonald asserts his dominance and retains side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Macdonald working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Macdonald working the body and head with strikes. Mcguire taking punishment in the form of punches.
Macdonald tries for a kimura but Mcguire is defending well. Macdonald wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mcguire keeps working. Macdonald is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Mcguire is trying to escape and Macdonald transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Mcguire is forced to tap! Nice work there by Macdonald! Very nice indeed!
