Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Preston Glass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Big John!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Konstantin Menshow and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Glass throws a head kick that half lands.


It looks like Big John has been cut.

John shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Glass napping and manages to drive through into side control!
John working the ground and pound.
Glass could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

John stands up and beckons Glass to his feet.
John misses with a combination
and Glass counters with a one-two to the body.

John drives through with a takedown into guard.
Glass wants to get back to his feet but John passes into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

John takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Glass is trying to stand up here but John is controlling him well.

John is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Glass defends it well.
Glass keeps control of the position for the meantime.
John is thwarting Glass's attempts to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

John is working for a submission of some sort.
Glass is looking to improve his position.
John working Glass over with strikes.

John is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Glass sees it coming and defends easily.
John sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Glass moves into full guard.

Glass working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. John doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. John manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
John sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Glass's guard.
John trying to control the pace.

John is trying to work for a kimura but Glass is defending well.
John uses his free foot to push down on Glass's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Glass.
John takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Glass tries to hold on but John pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Glass throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

John is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Glass to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Glass shrugs it off.
Glass working to try and regain half guard.
John sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Glass tries to lock up and control but John gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
John is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Glass can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

John is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Glass is surviving well by controlling John's body position as best he can.
John looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.


Glass is rocked!
John lands a big shot to the head and Glass winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Big John!
