Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Naya Shinoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samak Tiyapairat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shinoki 's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, wadiako. Tiyapairat has chosen Ram Muay as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Naya Shinoki !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Samak Tiyapairat!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shinoki darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Shinoki seems to be looking for submissions.
Shinoki is trying to control the action in half guard but Tiyapairat is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Shinoki half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Tiyapairat shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Shinoki eats them both and turns towards Tiyapairat to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Tiyapairat throws a lazy right hand but Shinoki sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Shinoki moves out of range as Tiyapairat throws a body kick.

Tiyapairat closes the distance and clinches.
Shinoki blocks an elbow strike from Tiyapairat.

Tiyapairat trying to land knees to the body.
Tiyapairat looking to throw knees to the head but Shinoki is blocking nicely.

Shinoki drags the fight down to the ground.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Shinoki looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Shinoki looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tiyapairat is one step ahead there.

We've been hearing good reports from Shinoki 's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

A close round but Samak Tiyapairat will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Tiyapairat throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shinoki attempts a counter takedown but Tiyapairat avoids it well and moves away.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Tiyapairat.
Tiyapairat wants to clinch but Shinoki slips to the side

and Shinoki counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Shinoki seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Tiyapairat really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shinoki . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Naya Shinoki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Shinoki has his foot on Tiyapairat's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tiyapairat works his way back into a safe position though.

Shinoki throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tiyapairat was covering up waiting for the punch and Shinoki finishes the takedown easily into guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Tiyapairat wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Tiyapairat has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Shinoki is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Tiyapairat is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Shinoki connects with a leg kick. Tiyapairat looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Tiyapairat ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Naya Shinoki is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Tiyapairat closes the distance and clinches.
Shinoki is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Tiyapairat gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Shinoki gets control of Tiyapairat's arms and successfully pulls guard. Shinoki will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Shinoki wants to hit a switch here but Tiyapairat passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Shinoki there!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tiyapairat wants to get back to his feet but Shinoki is holding on tight.
Shinoki bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Tiyapairat avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Shinoki is trying to control the position but Tiyapairat postures up.

Shinoki has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Tiyapairat is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Shinoki .

Shinoki tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tiyapairat wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Samak Tiyapairat comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tiyapairat has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Samak Tiyapairat started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Naya Shinoki was interviewed post fight and said ' Didn't go my way I will come back stronger Congrats to my opponent an best of luck in the future thanks you all for the support'.
