Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Todd Ochoa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Wheaton ! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ochoa closes the distance and clinches. Wheaton is struggling to control the position. Wheaton breaks the clinch.
Wheaton has a takedown stuffed. Ochoa fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Ochoa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wheaton defends it nicely. Wheaton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ochoa is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Wheaton pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ochoa desperately trying to maintain half guard. Wheaton wants to control but Ochoa is keeping him busy. Ochoa wants to get back to full guard. Ochoa won't allow Wheaton to pass to mount. Ochoa trying to control here.
Ochoa is looking to improve his position.
Wheaton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ochoa keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Ochoa looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Wheaton in particular looking to stall. Wheaton working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Wheaton tries to stand but can't do so whilst Ochoa controls his leg. Ochoa is defending against the submission attempts here by Wheaton .

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ochoa wants to control but Wheaton is keeping busy and won't allow it. Wheaton controlling the action here.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Ochoa tries for a takedown but Wheaton circles away easily and Wheaton counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Todd Ochoa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wheaton scores with a body shot.
Jon Wheaton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wheaton has managed to clinch.

Ochoa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wheaton stuffs the takedown. Wheaton is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Ochoa stuffs the takedown attempt from Wheaton . Wheaton gets slowly back to his feet. Wheaton looks for a takedown but Ochoa sprawls well. Wheaton lands a nice shot that snaps Ochoa's head back.
Todd Ochoa's cut is getting worse. Ochoa is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Wheaton connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ochoa gets caught napping as Wheaton dives in and scores a takedown. Ochoa manages to retain guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ochoa wants to sweep here but Wheaton controlling him for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jon Wheaton dominated that round. The cut man is working on Todd Ochoa's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Wheaton throws a lazy head kick and Ochoa counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ochoa. Wheaton pushes Ochoa off and scrambles back to his feet.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Wheaton . He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Wheaton closes the distance and clinches. Ochoa dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Wheaton manages to break the clinch.
Wheaton scores with a takedown into Ochoa's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ochoa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Wheaton stopping the sweep attempt from Ochoa. Wheaton is fighting to break Ochoa's control of his arms but Ochoa is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wheaton forces his way into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wheaton trying to control from half guard but Ochoa is working away. Ochoa works his way to full guard. Good work. Ochoa wants to stand up but Wheaton is controlling him. Ochoa doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Wheaton lands a couple of elbows. Wheaton not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Wheaton wants to pass the guard but Ochoa is keeping the position. Wheaton keeps trying to improve his position. Wheaton trying to control the position from guard on top but Ochoa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ochoa takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Wheaton shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wheaton showed some decent athleticism there. Ochoa manages to escape and get back to his feet!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wheaton misses with a wild combination.
Ochoa changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Ochoa goes for a double leg but Wheaton avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Wheaton continues to drive forward. Wheaton fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Ochoa counters with a shoot takedown. Wheaton fights it but they end up in guard. Wheaton pushes Ochoa off and scrambles back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wheaton shoots in and gets a takedown into Ochoa's guard. Wheaton is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ochoa throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Ochoa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wheaton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Ochoa is tightening it up a little... Wheaton has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Wheaton reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Wheaton taps out! Nice BJJ there by Ochoa!
