Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marlon Gibbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brandon Steel!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marlon Gibbs!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Winston Alpacca and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibbs throws a poor cross that misses
and Steel counters with a nice body shot.
Gibbs tries to clinch up.
Gibbs swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Steel counters by clinching up.
A nice right hand lands inside from Steel.
Gibbs changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Steel fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Steel thuds a left hand into Gibbs's body.
Gibbs's coach down at Island Top Team was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Gibbs's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Steel lands a really nice looking cross but Gibbs seems unphased.

Gibbs tries to bum rush Steel with a series of wild strikes but Steel uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Steel moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Steel wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Steel seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Steel swats away the attempt to clinch by Gibbs.
Gibbs throws a sloppy head kick and Steel moves out of range easily.

and Steel counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Steel keeps the fight on the outside.
Gibbs throws a chopping leg kick but Steel manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Steel scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gibbs doesn't seem bothered though.

Gibbs is trying to work for a kimura but Steel is defending well.

Steel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gibbs on the ground.

Gibbs thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Steel's head.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gibbs with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Gibbs is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Steel doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gibbs.
Gibbs throwing shots but Steel is blocking nicely.
Steel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gibbs looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
It looks like Gibbs might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Steel throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gibbs on the side of the head.

and Steel counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gibbs thinking.
Gibbs takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Steel lands a glancing blow to the side of Gibbs's head.
Gibbs has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Gibbs drops his hands momentarily and Steel takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Steel looks to land a combination. Gibbs sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Steel takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Steel throws an overhand right that drops Gibbs like a sack of potatoes! Steel dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
