Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lupe Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alvin Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lupe Ortiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alvin Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortiz misses with a body shot.

and Garcia moves into the clinch.
Ortiz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Garcia pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Ortiz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ortiz goes for a takedown in the clinch but Garcia prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lupe Ortiz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ortiz is looking to break free of the clinch but Garcia has double underhooks.

Garcia wants to stand but Ortiz is controlling his posture from full guard.

Garcia postures up and lands a big shot to Ortiz's brow.
Garcia not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Garcia wants to pass the guard but Ortiz is keeping the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Garcia drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Garcia remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Garcia has eaten all the pies!
Ortiz gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Garcia wants to finish this one by submission but Ortiz is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Garcia.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Garcia wants to stand but Ortiz is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Garcia won't let Ortiz get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Garcia has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ortiz's face.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alvin Garcia dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Garcia decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ortiz pushes Garcia off but Garcia dives into side control.
Garcia has control of an arm but Ortiz manages to advance to Garcia's back!
Ortiz wants to control the position but Garcia frees himself and scrambles - Ortiz manages to regain control in side control.

Garcia is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ortiz has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Garcia has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ortiz working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Garcia tries to escape but Ortiz is in control.
Garcia is trying to get back to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ortiz wants to control for a moment but Garcia uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Garcia is trying to stand up here but Ortiz is controlling him well.
Garcia moves into full guard.
Garcia wants to get back to his feet but Ortiz is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ortiz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Garcia.
Ortiz tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Garcia tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Garcia's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Ortiz tries to buck Garcia off but he can't manage it.
Garcia controlling his opponent.
Garcia is looking to stand but Ortiz has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Alvin Garcia has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ortiz is trying desperately to improve position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Alvin Garcia will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Ortiz is wriggling around but Garcia manages to pass to half guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Garcia looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Garcia tries to stand and escape but Ortiz actually recovers to full guard.

Garcia wants to stand but Ortiz is controlling his posture from full guard.
Garcia slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Alvin Garcia is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Garcia shoots in looking for a takedown but Ortiz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Garcia's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Garcia is taking a breather. Ortiz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Alvin Garcia comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Garcia winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
