Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshuah Robertson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julian Preston!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson needs to keep his hands up - Preston had a free shot at his head there.


It looks like Joshuah Robertson has been cut.
Julian Preston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Robertson looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Preston forces Robertson back against the cage and clinches.
Robertson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Preston pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Preston jumps guard but Robertson stands there with Preston around his waist. Preston gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Preston landing knees to the body.
Preston should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Preston has picked Robertson up - he's going for a ride! Preston dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Preston seems to be working for a kimura but Robertson defends the submission attempt.
Preston wants to stand up but Robertson has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Preston tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Preston frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Preston raining down shots from the mount!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A nice elbow there by Preston.
Preston sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Preston connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Robertson wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Preston breaks from Robertson's wrist control and lands an elbow.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Robertson tries to lock up and control but Preston gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Robertson in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Preston pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Robertson gets back to half guard.
Preston stalling.

Preston not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Preston is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Robertson tries to roll over but Preston keeps him under control.
Preston is tying to control. Robertson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Preston passes the guard and advances to mount!
Preston takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Robertson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Preston pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A slow jab from Robertson misses its intended target.
Robertson tries to close the distance and clinch but Preston swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Robertson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Preston scores with a kick to the body.
Preston fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Preston tries a head kick but it misses.
Preston chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Preston lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Robertson takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Preston throws a leg kick which misses Robertson's front leg but catches the back leg as Robertson tries to avoid it.
Robertson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Preston looks to land a body kick but Robertson moved away.
Preston lands a head kick. Robertson smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Robertson on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Preston swinging wilding here.
Preston bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Robertson's head.
Robertson takes a kick to the side of the head.
The fight stays on the outside here - Preston looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Robertson swats away the attempt to clinch by Preston.
Robertson takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Preston clinches up with Robertson and pushes him back against the cage.
Preston wants to get back to striking at distance but Robertson won't allow it.
Robertson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Preston gets the underhooks and prevents it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Preston tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Robertson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Preston works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Preston is looking to stand up but Robertson won't let him.
Robertson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Robertson pulls Preston in close to prevent any damage.
Preston slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Preston has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Robertson is proving hard to escape from.

Preston thows a big elbow that misses.
Robertson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Robertson has a closed guard, preventing Preston from standing up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Preston misses with a low kick.
Preston rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Robertson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A head kick misses from Preston.

Robertson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Robertson is taking a breather. Preston says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Robertson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Preston keeps working.

Preston moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Preston not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Preston tries to strike from the bottom.
Robertson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Preston escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Robertson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Robertson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Preston goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Robertson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Preston as he jumps to the side.

The fight stays on the outside here - Preston looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Preston tries a head kick but it misses.

Robertson moves into range and clinches up with Preston.

Preston pulls guard.
Preston is looking to sweep but instead, Robertson has passed into half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Robertson wants to pass to mount but Preston is defending the position.
Preston is refusing to be controlled, as Robertson sits in half guard.
Preston slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Preston tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Robertson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Robertson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Preston throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Robertson fails with an attempt to clinch.

Preston lands a nice looking kick to the body. Robertson takes a step back to recover.
A slapping leg kick lands for Preston.
Crunch! Preston slams his shin into Robertson's torso.

and Robertson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Preston blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Robertson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Preston fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joshuah Robertson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Preston lands a really nice looking cross but Robertson seems unphased.
Preston tries to clinch but Robertson is having none of it.

Preston wants a takedown but no success here.
Preston has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Robertson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Preston tries to pull guard but Robertson holds him up against the cage and eventually Preston drops back down to his feet.

Preston turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Preston manages to end up in side control.
Robertson is trying to get back to half guard.
Robertson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Julian Preston comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Preston has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
