PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between luis marques (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDonald has chosen were not gonna take it as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald slips a jab and a cross from marques.
marques really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
marques tries to close the distance and clinch up but McDonald swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McDonald throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McDonald pulls out of a head kick attempt.

McDonald darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
McDonald prevents marques from improving his position.
marques is trying to control but can't.
marques wants to improve his position but McDonald is controlling well.
marques tries to kick McDonald off but McDonald keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

marques is trying to get back to full guard.

McDonald is just content to waste time from the top position. marques takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
McDonald is looking to stand up but marques won't let him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McDonald showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from marques.
McDonald throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around marques's waist but marques gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McDonald off to one side.
McDonald shoots for a takedown but marques saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

marques bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McDonald tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but marques presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
marques avoids the attempt from McDonald to control.
McDonald is wriggling around trying to escape.
McDonald is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
marques throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

marques moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, McDonald has worked his arm free - good work by McDonald!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McDonald gets the takedown into side control.
marques tries to improve position but can't.

McDonald might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control marques kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

McDonald lands some shots froms side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

marques takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McDonald works to advance to full mount. marques defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

marques is looking to improve his position but McDonald isn't that keen on the idea.

McDonald takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

McDonald looking to control but marques is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

marques on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if marques tries to get out of the position.
McDonald's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ronald McDonald just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

marques tries to lock up and control but McDonald gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Ronald McDonald showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

McDonald has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but marques can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McDonald shoots for a double leg takedown but marques sprawls well. He's pushed McDonald's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
marques connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

McDonald manages to break the clinch.
McDonald shoots in but no luck this time.

McDonald goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
McDonald closes the distance and clinches up with marques, looking for a takedown. McDonald pushes marques against the cage but marques circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McDonald bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in marques's guard.
McDonald wants to control from the top but marques keeps moving.

Well marques has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
