PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tat Moh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raise Hell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hell has chosen Rather Unique - AZ as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tat Moh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Raise Hell!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moh throws a low kick but Hell avoids it.
Hell swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Hell takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Hell swings for the body but Moh moves out of range.

Moh has Hell up against the cage in a clinch.

Hell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hell misses with a leg kick

and Moh counters with a shoot takedown. Hell fights it but they end up in guard.
Moh with a nice head shot there.
Hell has momentary wrist control but Moh slips an elbow through the middle.
Moh throws a big elbow that misses.
Hell trying to control the position.
Hell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Moh drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Moh jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Moh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've been hearing good reports from Moh's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Moh throws a strike but Hell rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Moh is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Hell makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hell.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Moh is in close to Hell's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hell wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Moh is now in half guard.

Hell is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Moh pulls his head out easily.

Hell felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Hell on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Hell is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hell avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Moh.
Moh is nestled in close to Hell, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Moh is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hell has managed to free his arm - good work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Moh scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tat Moh dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Moh takes a body punch but keeps moving.
An inside leg kick lands from Hell.
Hell jabs Moh to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Hell lands a leg kick that knocks Moh off balance momentarily.
Hell misses with a leg kick.
Hell throws a right hand that misses
and Moh counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Good work by Hell as he checks the leg kick.
Moh connects with a body shot.
Hell does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Moh tried to score with a low kick but Hell checks it.
Moh is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hell can do to turn this around?
Hell keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Hell swings for the body but Moh moves out of range.
Moh tries to counter by clinching up but Hell breaks away and moves out of range.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Moh looks to land a left hand but Hell moved out of range nicely.
Hell fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Moh on the side of the head.


It looks like Tat Moh has been cut.
Moh tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hell looks to score with a jab to the body but Moh is just out of range.
A punch combination from Hell misses.
Moh drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hell sprawls and moves away.
Hell circles away from the clinch attempt.

Raise Hell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moh fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hell has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Hell misses with an uppercut. Moh saw that one coming.

Hell dodges the punch combination from Moh.
Raise Hell seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Moh looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Hell tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hell lands a right hand.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Hell.

Moh gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Hell tries to roll over but Moh keeps him under control.
Hell is pressing down on Moh's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Moh loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Moh looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hell with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hell wants to get back to full guard.
Hell manages to get to full guard.
Tat Moh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Moh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Moh manages to get himself to full guard.

Moh is looking for a triangle but Hell pushes his legs off easily.

Moh bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hell's guard.

A close second round but Raise Hell will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Hell takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Hell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Moh.

Hell lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Moh struggles to land a body shot inside as Hell controls his hands.

Hell lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Moh or not.
Moh swings wildly with an uppercut but Hell uses good head movement to avoid it.

Moh turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Moh goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hell has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Moh but great work by Hell.

Hell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Moh keeps working.

Moh is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hell off and has taken his back!

Moh seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Hell's chin but Hell turns very nicely into Moh's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Hell.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tat Moh.
I think Moh has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
