Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 43 - 32 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Tatsuya Aoki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Beattie!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beattie scores with a crisp jab that stopped Aoki in his tracks.
Beattie lands with a straight right. Aoki didn't see that one coming.
Aoki uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Aoki clinches up with Beattie and pushes him back against the cage.

Beattie tightens his grip and picks Aoki up, before dumping him to the ground. Aoki manages to land in guard.
Aoki wants to stand and escape but Beattie is having none of it.
Aoki is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Aoki lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Beattie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Aoki missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Aoki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Aoki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Aoki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Beattie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Aoki throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beattie lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Beattie stands up over Aoki, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Aoki is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Beattie can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Aoki is looking to escape.

Aoki sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Beattie seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Aoki does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Beattie wants to control from the top but Aoki keeps moving.

Aoki is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Beattie defends well.
Beattie won't allow Aoki to sweep him here.
Beattie postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Aoki looking to hit a scissor sweep but Beattie is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Beattie dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Beattie throws a right and a left that Aoki avoids nicely.
Aoki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Aoki misses with a takedown
and Beattie counters with a thumping low kick.
Beattie ducks under a wild hook from Aoki.
Aoki misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Beattie.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Beattie! But no joy.
Aoki slips a straight right by Beattie.
Aoki plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Beattie on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Aoki looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Beattie is fending him off so far but Aoki persists. Nope, Beattie circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beattie digs a good body shot into Aoki's ribs.
Beattie buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Chris Beattie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aoki ducks right into an uppercut from Beattie.


It looks like Tatsuya Aoki has been cut.
A telegraphed right hand from Beattie misses the target.

Beattie tries to bum rush Aoki with a series of wild strikes but Aoki uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Beattie has closed the distance and engaged Aoki in a clinch.

Beattie lands a takedown into guard.

Aoki manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Beattie throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Aoki throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A jab lands there for Aoki.
Beattie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Aoki takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Beattie wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Aoki gets cracked there but stands up to it.


Aoki is rocked!
A shot to the liver by Aoki. Beautiful body shot.
Oh Aoki is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Aoki throws a jab when Beattie was well out of range.
Beattie feints the counter takedown.
Aoki seems to have got his legs back now.

A combination from Beattie does no damage.
Beattie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Aoki half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Beattie misses with a jab to the body

and Aoki counters with a single leg into guard. Beattie didn't expect that.

Beattie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
