0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Thiago Alves! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Crackland shoots in for a takedown but Alves shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Alves looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Alves displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Crackland throws out the jab. Alves clinches with his opponent.
Alves has clasped his hands together around Crackland's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Crackland struggling a bit here. Crackland sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Crackland wants to control but Alves is keeping busy and won't allow it. Alves is looking to advance position but Crackland won't allow it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Crackland throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Crackland landing rabbit punches to the side of Alves's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points. Crackland makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Crackland.
That's one minute gone in the round. Crackland is pulling down on Alves's head to control his posture. Alves tries to free his leg and advance position but Crackland is retaining full guard. Alves takes a decent strike to the side of the head. Crackland looking to control.
Crackland pushes a forearm under Alves's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Alves is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
