Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Scott Nolan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Biggie Smalls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Biggie Smalls looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott Nolan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Biggie Smalls!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nolan swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nolan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Smalls looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Smalls misses with the body kick

so Nolan counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Nolan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Nolan won't allow Smalls to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nolan stays in close to Smalls's body and controls the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smalls throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Smalls looks winded!
Nolan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nolan fails with a takedown attempt.
Smalls counters with a body kick.
Smalls lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nolan circles away quickly and effectively.

Nolan gets the takedown into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Nolan decides to stand back up.
Nolan goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Biggie Smalls seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nolan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Nolan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Nolan slows the pace down.
Nolan lands a few punches from side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nolan is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Smalls will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nolan decides to stand up, so the ref orders Smalls to his feet.

Nolan gets caught flat footed, as Smalls shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Nolan wriggles free and stands up.

Nolan shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Smalls is trying to defend but Nolan finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Nolan performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Nolan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Smalls for as long as he can get away with.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Nolan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Smalls throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Nolan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nolan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smalls was well out of range. Poor timing from Nolan.
Smalls misses with a body kick.

Nolan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Smalls's guard.
We've been informed that Smalls has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Nolan slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Nolan landing with the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nolan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Smalls is breathing heavily.
Further stalling from Nolan.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nolan fails with a takedown attempt.
Nolan looks for a takedown but Smalls sprawls well.
Biggie Smalls is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Nolan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nolan lands in his opponent's guard.
Smalls is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Nolan dives into side control.

Nolan takes a little break here. Smalls wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Smalls takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Nolan stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Nolan takes the fight into the clinch.

Smalls is fighting off a takedown attempt but Nolan is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Smalls to the mat. Smalls regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Smalls is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Nolan is working Smalls over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Nolan chips away with some ground and pound.
Nolan is stalling in the full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Nolan rushes Smalls and presses him up against the cage.

Nolan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Smalls throws a lazy head kick
letting Nolan counter with a right hand.

Nolan gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Nolan drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Smalls gets the underhooks and prevents it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Nolan dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!



Nolan has Smalls up against the cage in a clinch.
Smalls letting Nolan take a breather here.
Smalls is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Smalls has picked Nolan up - he's going for a ride! Smalls dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Smalls is looking to pass Nolan's guard but actually Nolan recovers to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smalls takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Nolan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nolan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Nolan stalling.
Smalls wants to get back to his feet.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Nolan in particular looking to stall.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Nolan is stinking the place up with his stalling.
Nolan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Smalls can do to turn this around?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Nolan decides to stand and escape the position.

Nolan clinches with his opponent.

Nolan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Nolan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smalls napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Smalls tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Smalls has given up his back. Will we see Nolan going for some submissions?

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nolan is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Nolan gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Nolan gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Nolan apologises and we restart here on the feet.
A punch combination from Smalls misses.

Nolan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Smalls wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Nolan manages to pass to side control.

Nolan drops an elbow to the side of Smalls's head.
Nolan prevents Smalls from improving his position.
Still in half guard, Nolan seems content to control.
Nolan continues to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Smalls looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Nolan keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Nolan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Scott Nolan showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nolan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
